On Saturday 12 October 2013 saw Advanced Breast Cancer Group hold the regular Workshop for Women, Partners, Families and Friends. The workshop was a great success with many members and their family attending.
The workshop included Oncologist Dr Nicole McCarthy answering questions about oncology, and All in the Family; A facilitated discussion led by Tom O’Brien about the experience of living with ABC for all members of the family and friends.
The afternoon saw Bernard Houston conduct a creative session based on the sharing of hobbies, interests or other creative endeavours. Everyone was asked to bring something to represent this.
Thank you to all those who attended and were involved in the organisation of such a great workshop.
What can friends do to help?
If you want to help, ask what would be helpful. Practical tasks – shopping, ironing, mowing the lawn, making a meal, walking the dog, hanging the washing – are often the ones that take the effort, energy or time that someone who is having treatment doesn’t have.
